I was excited from the moment Gemma and Jack booked in with me. As soon as I looked up their chosen venue, I could tell it was going to be something truly special, a photographer’s dream.
Tucked away just beyond the rolling fields of the charming Cheshire market town of Knutsford, The Love Shack is a hidden gem like no other. Nestled deep within the Acer Glade at Moss Wood, it’s surrounded by ancient woodland, glowing festoon lights and an air of calm, secluded magic. It offers a unique and romantic alternative to the traditional wedding venue, peaceful, intimate, and utterly enchanting.
The wonderful Wendy and Dominic, who own The Love Shack, extend the warmest welcome to their couples. Guests are given exclusive use of their luxury lodges and the surrounding grounds, making it a truly private retreat to celebrate love in the most relaxed and beautiful way.
When I arrived, Wendy kindly showed me around the grounds, pointing out some of the best photo spots, and she wasn’t wrong. The venue is effortlessly photogenic, and with the added bonus of it being such an intimate day with just Gemma and Jack, I knew I’d have the space and time to capture something truly special for them.
Soon it was time to document the morning preparations. Gemma was in the safe hands of the lovely Lisa Simms Bridal, who I’ve had the pleasure of working with before — always a joy to see a familiar face! I flitted between Gemma and Jack throughout the morning to catch glimpses of them both getting ready, alongside all those beautiful little details that bring the day together. The florals, by Black Eyed Susie Floral Design, were particularly stunning, elegant and full of personality, just like the couple.
The ceremony itself was deeply personal, just the two of them, surrounded by the woodland and bathed in sunshine. There was something so beautifully raw and heartfelt about witnessing such an intimate exchange of vows. One of my favourite parts was watching them walk to the ceremony together, hand in hand, down the woodland path from their lodge, accompanied by the enchanting sound of Matt Glossop Violin echoing through the trees. It was a truly cinematic moment.
Following the ceremony, Gemma and Jack took time to soak up the sunshine and enjoy a gorgeous grazing table lovingly put together by Dress It Up – Manchester. With more stunning acoustic music from Matt in the background, it was the perfect opportunity for the couple to pause, relax and just enjoy each other’s company.
Later, we set off to explore the grounds and make the most of The Love Shack’s breathtaking backdrops. Every corner of this place offers something magical — from wildflower meadows to tranquil woodland paths. We even made time for some romantic shots on the boat, which was such a fun and memorable part of the day.
It was an absolute joy to be part of Gemma and Jack’s celebration, a day so full of love, simplicity, and beauty in the most perfect setting.
