Abi & Zac's wedding kicked off my 2025 season in style, and what an incredible start it was. I was beyond excited as this was my first opportunity to capture a wedding at the stunning Hidden Oaks venue. If you haven’t yet seen this place, I highly recommend checking it out – it truly is a hidden gem. I feel incredibly lucky to have such a beautiful venue right on my doorstep. The surroundings are just perfect for capturing all the magic of a wedding day.
It was a fresh, crisp winter’s day in January, and despite the chill, the sky was clear and bright, giving us plenty of opportunities for some gorgeous outdoor couple portraits. The winter light was just stunning, casting a soft glow on everything and making for the most romantic backdrop.
Both Abi and Zac were getting ready at Hidden Oaks, which meant I had the chance to flick between them, capturing both sides of the wedding preparations. I had a fantastic team to work alongside – Nicola Bird, who was doing the makeup, and Briony Jaye, who was styling the hair. It’s always great when I get to collaborate with such talented professionals who bring their A-game. I also took the opportunity to sneak off and capture some beautiful room shots while working with Gemma from Bells & Daisies Florist, who had created the most elegant and timeless floral arrangements.
One of the things I love most about wedding days is the chance to capture the candid moments that unfold during the preparations. Being able to mingle with the wedding party, getting to know the couple and their families while documenting the little moments, always makes me feel connected to the day in such a special way. It’s these quiet, intimate moments that really tell the story of the day.
We had the most wonderful day – and the guests were absolutely brilliant too. There was such a lovely atmosphere, filled with laughter, excitement, and plenty of happy tears. I want to give a huge thank you to Abi and Zac for braving the cold and stepping outside for some couple portraits. It couldn’t have been more than 1°C, but they were such good sports, and the photos we captured together were absolutely worth it. You can see some of the stunning images below, showcasing their love and the raw beauty of the moment.
There are so many shots from the day that I absolutely adore. A few special ones that stand out include a little robin that kept landing next to the bouquet when I was photographing it – a lovely, serendipitous touch that added a bit of extra charm to the shots. Of course, the couple portraits are always my favourite part of the day, as it’s when I get the chance to be the most creative. I adore the playful shots of Abi shoving cake into Zac’s mouth – it was a brilliant moment that led to some hilarious, yet utterly endearing photos. And then, as always, the nighttime shots provided the perfect opportunity to get creative with the lighting and composition, capturing the couple in a completely different, yet equally beautiful, way.
The team at Hidden Oaks were absolutely fabulous. The venue is well-run and the staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating, making it such a joy to work there. If you're considering getting married at Hidden Oaks, I promise you won’t be disappointed. I also want to give a special mention to Cheek and Tongue, the talented catering team, who provided delicious food that was not only beautifully presented but also mouth-wateringly good, and E Bella Creations, who made the most exquisite wedding cake – a true masterpiece.
